1) What is Yang Energy ?

The Yang is the white half with the black dot in the Yin Yang symbol.

♂️ Yang energy is considered to be masculine. Yang is active, energetic, outward and brilliant. Contrary to Yin, Yang moves fast and expands outward.

2) Difference Between Yin and Yang

The difference between Yin and Yang is that they are two apparently opposing forces.

Yin is considered to be the internal energy while Yang is the physical body. 
Yin is also feminine, cold and dark, while Yang is masculine, warm and luminous.

☯ Whatever the differences between Yin and Yang, they cannot exist separately. The two forces are paired and work together; "in duality is unity".

3) What is a Yang Personality ?

Yang personalities tend to be more vigorous but this does not mean that they are healthier than Yin personalities.

Yang people tend to enjoy activities and movement. It is more difficult for Yang types to enjoy tranquility and relaxation. On a personal level, Yang people are more aggressive, active, outgoing, ambitious and productive 🏋️‍♂️.

Men tend to be more Yang and women more Yin; therefore, men in general are taller, stronger and more energetic than women.

4) Yang Activities

Manual activities are considered more Yang than activities such as reading, writing, invention or discussion, which are considered more Yin.

Here a few activities considered as Yang, 

  • Runing
  • Dancing
  • Hiking
  • Goal settings
  • Anything adventure
  • Dancing
  • Boxing

Instead, Yang activities will tend to increase your heart rate (such as runing, for example) to raise your body temperature and burn calories 🌡️. 


Some mental activities can also be Yang like working on a project (written for example) that has a strict deadline for an important person. You don't move your body much, but your brain is working 🧠, your stress increases, which causes your heart rate to rise, and you may even start sweating as your body temperature rises.

Mental stimulation can be energizing, but it can also consume too much of your energy and eventually exhaust you physically.

5) What are Yang Foods ?

Yang foods are generally considered "hot" foods, which are supposed to bring warmth to the body.

6) What is Yang Deficiency ?

A Yang deficiency causes cold and clammy skin. Indeed, the cold affects the function of the pores of the skin which must open causing sweating and the elimination of heat. When the body is cold ❄️; they close and retain body heat.

Symptoms of a Yang deficiency result in a slowing down of metabolic processes.

Here's what you can often feel when you have a Yang deficiency:

  • Dull pain in the lower back
  • Knee pain
  • Weakness of the lower limbs
  • Slow heart rate
  • Very low appetite
  • Soft stools
  • Impotence
  • Social withdrawal
  • Demotivation and feelings of hopelessness

7) How to Increase Yang Energy ?

When the creative and transforming energy that  maintains your mental and bodily functions is depleted, you suffer from a Yang deficiency. This usually results in fatigue.

💪🏻 Here are 4 tips to follow if you suffer from a Yang deficiency and to increase your energy:

  1. Get some rest ! Take time between physical activity sessions. Get enough sleep, take short naps if necessary.
  2. If you've recently been exposed to the cold, give yourself time to recover before returning to your previous activity levels.
  3. Don't consume anything that is cold, icy or raw. Make sure everything you eat is warm and hot. Chew all food very carefully before swallowing it. Prefer a hot drink with or after a meal.
  4. Eat nutritious and warming foods. It is generally better to eat within your stomach limits rather than stuffing yourself.
